Notting Hill Carnival 60

Six Months of Heritage Celebration | May - October 2026

Notting Hill Carnival's 60th Anniversary

2026 marks 60 years since Rhaune Laslett organised the first Notting Hill Carnival - a multicultural street celebration that Russ Henderson transformed with Caribbean music and Leslie Palmer built into Europe's largest street festival.

Notting Hill Walks is marking this milestone with six months of heritage programming: walks, talks, exhibitions, Caribbean suppers and workshops exploring the real history behind Carnival.

This is community-told history. The stories of the visionaries who built Carnival, the clubs and shebeens where Caribbean culture flourished, and the resistance that made it all necessary.

What's Coming

  • Heritage walks through the streets where Carnival was born

  • Corporate evening walks for teams seeking meaningful heritage experiences

  • Talks and panels with community speakers, historians and activists

  • Caribbean suppers celebrating foodways and intergenerational storytelling

  • Workshops for schools, community groups and researchers

Programme Launches 7th April 2026
