Discover Notting Hill's Black History from Windrush generation migration through 1958 riots, Mangrove Nine resistance, to Carnival's origins. This walk explores historic streets where you'll hear civil rights stories and understand how Caribbean communities shaped British culture. Available as 60 or 90-minute options.
Enhance your experience at Portobello Shack, authentic Caribbean restaurant and community space. After exploring the vibrant streets of Notting Hill, the walk concludes at the Shack, owned by local trailblazer Rosita Lynch -goddaughter of Russell Henderson, founder of the Notting Hill Carnival.
Guests will have the opportunity to sample delicious Caribbean cuisine, enjoy a full lunch, snack or refreshments, and meet Rosita. She will share her compelling story as well as documentary films she co-produced about the history of the Notting Hill Carnival and the life of Russell Henderson, providing a deeper understanding of the community's rich cultural heritage.

Guests will enjoy a Caribbean meal with two special hosts: Jamila Bolton Gordon, daughter of Mangrove Nine defendant Rhodan Gordon, who will share powerful family stories of civil rights activism and what it meant to grow up in a household at the heart of Black British resistance; and Rosita Lynch, goddaughter of Russell Henderson, founder of the Notting Hill Carnival, who will share her compelling story as well as documentary films she co-produced about the history of the Notting Hill Carnival and the life of Russell Henderson.
